Privacy Policy

Simply Dark is a browser extension that applies a dark-mode overlay to websites selected by the user. This policy explains the limited information the extension handles to provide that feature.

Information the extension handles

Simply Dark stores the URL-matching rules you create, whether each rule is enabled, and technical fields used to identify and order those rules. A rule may contain a website hostname, URL, or URL pattern. The extension reads the address of the page you are viewing only to determine whether it matches one of your saved rules.

How information is used

This information is used only to remember your preferences and automatically apply dark mode to matching pages. Simply Dark does not use it for advertising, analytics, profiling, credit decisions, or any unrelated purpose.

Storage and sharing

Saved rules are stored using the browser's extension storage feature. If browser synchronization is enabled, the browser provider may synchronize this data between your signed-in browsers under its own privacy policy. Simply Dark does not operate a server, send this information to the developer, sell personal information, or share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Website access

The extension runs on webpages so it can compare the current page address with your rules and render the dark-mode overlay. It does not read page content, form entries, passwords, cookies, or personal communications.

Retention and control

Rules remain in extension storage until you disable or delete them. You can manage them in the Simply Dark popup. Removing the extension deletes its locally stored data; synchronized copies are controlled through your browser account and provider.

Limited Use

Simply Dark's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Information is used only to provide the extension's single-purpose dark-mode functionality.

Changes

If the extension's data practices change, this page will be updated with a new effective date.
